Locked out of Rippling

This article provides instructions on what to do if you are locked out of Rippling

I'm locked out of Rippling. What should I do?

There are a few ways to regain access to your Rippling account if you're locked out or if you no longer have your MFA device. Please click the links below:

Heads up! If you're being prompted to change your password in order to regain access to your account, you'll need to create a new password that conforms to all listed password requirements. See our password FAQ for more details.

If you still have your authorized MFA device

If you have your authorized device but the codes aren't working, first try resetting the time zone.

Sometimes the local time zone and the Google Authenticator app time zone go out of sync and cause your token to fail. This isn't something Rippling controls. You can manually sync this on your end and try a new token.

  • For Android, open the Google Authenticator app > click the three dots in the top right corner > select Settings > select Time correction for codes > click Sync now.

  • For iOS, open settings on iOS > select General > select Date & Time > toggle on Set Automatically.

If you no longer have your authorized device, or the codes are not working

Contact your company administrator to verify your identity and reset your MFA device. Your admin can follow the steps outlined in our guide to resetting an employee's MFA. For security reasons, Rippling cannot reset your MFA for you.

Note: Your admin will need to be logged into Rippling to reset your MFA device.

If you are a company admin and you are locked out, contact another Super, Full, or Restricted admin with permission to reset MFA to have them reset your MFA.

  • If you're the only admin at your company and you're locked out, you'll need to start an account recovery process with Rippling by emailing [email protected].

    • An agent will get in touch and help you recover account access. During this process, you will be asked to join a video call to verify your identity with a Rippling support agent. Please come prepared to show a government-issued ID to the support agent. Please note that this is to ensure that this is a request from a real admin.

    • Important! This process will take a minimum of 10 business days and involve attempts to verify your identity.

    • Why the long process? This process is designed to avoid Rippling staff from becoming a social engineering attack vector on customer accounts. The process is slow and deliberate by design, to avoid a situation where we "recover" a customer's account for someone who is actually a malicious attacker.

I'm unable to log in after resetting my password

If you have successfully reset your password for your Rippling account but are still encountering an error when attempting to log in, your account may be blocked.
